About me

About me

I was born in Brazil, though my family roots also make me a citizen of Luxembourg. I studied communications at the Federal University of Rio de Janeiro, where I focused on globalization and technology.

My first thesis, on IRC and online communities, was published immediately at an international conference, and from there my path unfolded toward Europe.

I moved to Finland to pursue a master’s degree in digital culture at the University of Jyväskylä. My thesis asked a question that has stayed with me ever since: what does it mean to be an author in the era of social media? That work was presented at the Media in Transition Conference at MIT. I then continued to a PhD in Contemporary Culture, developing a theory derived from literary studies on how we can analyze interface elements in relation of content and decision-making.

Professionally, my work has always combined research and design, with a focus on service design.

I have mapped customer journeys since 2017 for some of the biggest companies in the Nordics, across Europe, and in North America.

Along the way, I’ve developed methods for measurement, analytics, and data collection—ranging from camera studies to galvanic skin response sensor frameworks. I’ve also helped pioneer ways of blending management consulting with customer journey management, sharing my findings at frog’s Center of Design Excellence in Milan.

Over the years, I’ve received several corporate awards, one of which gave me a scholarship at NYU to study data-driven decision-making.

That course became the foundation for much of my latest work in customer journey management. Today, I work at F-Secure Corporation, where my focus is on how trust and technology can help make the Internet safer for all of us.

Alongside research, I’ve also created and exhibited art projects that explore how technology reshapes our lives, with works presented in New York, Berlin, São Paulo, and Brasília.

Outside of work, I’m a father of two sons, and I take great joy in their company.

I love Hitchcock films, ambient electronic music, and the kinds of questions sociology invites us to ask about the world we live in.
